Winchester Medical Center’s Outpatient Entrance Closing for Construction

Winchester Medical Center’s Outpatient Entrance, on the facility’s west side, will close February 15 so that construction can begin on the Heart & Vascular Center expansion. Traffic will be redirected from this entrance for the next 12-18 months.

The primary users of the outpatient entrance are those arriving for a heart procedure. Patients are now directed to the hospital’s Main Entrance, on the building’s east side, where valet parking will be offered free of charge on weekdays between 5:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. Those who prefer to park their car on their own can use the parking lot or the new 569-space East Parking Garage. The WMC Auxiliary’s Courtesy Van is also available to pick up and deliver patients and visitors to their vehicles.

When construction activity on the North Tower accelerates over the next couple of months, valet parking will also be an option at the hospital’s Emergency Department. The parking lot there will be the primary staging area for construction, making those visitor spaces unavailable. Those able to park on their own will be directed to reserved space on the second floor of the North Parking Garage.

“The expansion project is about being ready for the future,” says Al Pilong, president of Winchester Medical Center. “Offering valet parking during construction is one example of the things we will do help patients and visitors have a positive experience every time they use the hospital.”

When complete in 2012, the Campus Expansion Project will add 368,000 square feet of new space to Winchester Medical Center. For more information on the WMC Campus Expansion, including interviews and Q&A, visit www.valleyhealthlink.com.
