Police Seek Tips in Armed Robbery

The Winchester Police Department (WPD) is investigating an armed robbery that occurred early this morning and is seeking information from the public to help solve the case. On April 11, 2017 at approximately 1:27 a.m., officers responded to a home on the 200 block of Opequon Avenue for a report of an armed robbery.

An investigation by WPD officers determined that two men wearing masks entered the home through a side door, displayed semi-automatic handguns, and demanded money from the residents. The suspects stole a wallet, keys, and an undisclosed amount of cash, then ran out the door.

The two male victims, ages 19 and 21, were both punched in the face by the suspects but were not seriously injured.  An 18-year-old female, who was also inside the home, said she was forced inside a bathroom at gunpoint. She was not injured.

The suspects are described as light skinned black males, or possibly bi-racial. One male was approximately 5’6” or 5’7” and the other was approximately six feet tall. The shorter male was wearing a long sleeved gray shirt or jacket. The taller male was wearing a black sweatshirt and black sweat pants.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office assisted with this incident.

Anyone with additional information on this case is asked to call the Winchester Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at (540) 545-4704 or Crime Solvers at (540) 665-TIPS.  Information leading to an arrest may result in a reward of up to $1,000.
