Obituary for Mary Burch
Mary Geneva Burch, 91, of Winchester, Virginia, died on July 13, 2010 at the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Burch was born in Fishers Hill, VA on April 8, 1919; the daughter of W. O and Daisy Santmyers Palmer. She served with the U S Navy and was discharged with the rank of Lt. JG in 1946. She was a graduate of the Winchester Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. After working for the Winchester Memorial Hospital for thirty-eight years she retired in 1980. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and of the Women in Military Service for American Military Foundation.
She married Edgar G. Burch on April 15, 1946 in Brunswick, MD. He preceded her in death on December 26, 2004.
Mrs. Burch is survived by many nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
Seven brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
A graveside service will be held 1n Mount Hebron Cemetery on Friday July 16, 2010 at 3:00 p. m with her great-nephew, Rev. Dr. K. Drew Baker of Charleston, SC officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA, 115 Featherbed Lane, Winchester, VA 22601.
