Obituary for Bruce E. Scates

BRUCE E. SCATES (Age 65)

Passed away at home in Stephens City, VA, c. July 20, 2012. Born in Washington, D.C., to the late Cali T. Scates and Charles E. Scates, Bruce grew up in Arlington, VA, before moving to the Winchester, VA, area in the 1970′s. He was self-educated and a published mystery writer. He retired in 2004 from the U.S. Postal Service, where he was a rural carrier for 15 years. He is survived by his sister, Carol Shriver of Alexandria, VA and her husband Ray; his brother, Robert Scates of Springfield, VA and his wife Sharon; and an aunt, Jeanne Shirley of Leesburg, FL. Donations may be made in Bruce’s name to St. Joseph’s Indian School, P.O. Box 100, Chamberlain, SD 57325. All services with Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel will be at a later date.
