Donna D. Black

Donna Dale Black, age 69, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Monday, February 6, 2012, in Winchester Medical Center.

Donna was born in 1942, in Ironton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Donald M. and Margaret Helen Day. She owned and operated the Apple Tree Market for 29 years with her husband, Jack. She also prepared taxes for many years. Donna graduated from Susquehanna University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Chemistry. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi in college. She was of Presbyterian faith.

Donna married R. Jack Black on February 12, 1964, in Winchester, Virginia.

Surviving in addition to her husband is one son, David D. Black and wife, Donna, of Centreville, Virginia; two daughters, Lisa B. Lofton and husband, Gary, of Youngsville, North Carolina and Kirsten B. Tynch and husband, Jack, of Portsmouth, Virginia; and two grandchildren, Logan J. and Callen J. Tynch. A sister, Deborah Ann Brown, preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 10, 2012, at the Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with the Reverend Steve Melester officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
