Winchester Observes National Night Out on August 3
July 27, 2010 by admin
The Winchester Police Department along with Winchester Fire and Rescue would like to invite the community to join us for the 27th Annual National Night Out that will take place on Tuesday August 3, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer city.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and are fighting back.
Along with the traditional display of outdoor front porch lights, citizens can enjoy a variety of events such as block parties, cookouts, and visits from local police, fire and rescue members, and local sheriff deputies. Please join us for free food and drinks at various locations within the city including Highland Memorial Presbyterian Church, Montague Avenue United Methodist Church, Old Town Mall, Willow Lawn Community Center, and the Woodland Avenue Neighborhood Watch group.
For any further information please contact Lt. Robert Gaither at 540-545-4165 or Lt. Wally Stotlemyer at 540-545-4722.
